Ippolito Scarsella called Lo Scarsellino (Ferrara 1551 - 1620) workshop/circle of Adoration of the Magi Oil on copper 20,5 x 27,5 cm The theme of the adoration of the Magi was tackled several times by Scarsella, starting from the prototypes by Jacopo Bassano kept respectively at the Scottish National Gallery and Galleria Colonna (copy of a lost original engraved by Sadeler) and evolving them according to his artistic feeling. Among the reference examples painted by Scarsellino, two are kept at the Walters Art gallery in Baltimore, two at the Pinacoteca Capitolina in Rome, others are in a private collection and published under catalog numbers 185, 217, 253 of the monograph edited by Maria Angela Novelli.
