Genoese school of the 17th century Portrait of Francesco Farnese (?) Oil on oval copper 50 x 40 cm Due to the similarity of the subject with the known effigies of Francesco Farnese, the artwork in question suggests that the portrayed is the Duke of Parma and Piacenza. An interesting hypothesis is that which allows the artwork to be brought closer to the Genoese painter Giovanni Maria delle Piane known as Mulinaretto (Genoa 1660 - Monticelli d'Ongina 1745), who was a portraitist active in Genoa, Parma and Naples, as well as a painter of court of the Farnese and Bourbons between the 17th and 18th centuries.
