Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (Venice 1683 - 1753) workshop/circle of

Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (Venice 1683 - 1753) workshop/circle of Girl's face Cleopatra's face Pair of pastels on paper 37,5 x 31 cm   The two artworks were born in the circle or in the workshop of Piazzetta, where pupils and aides were able to easily access the master's drawings. As for Cleopatra, it appears to us to be the feminine transcription of Piazzetta's invention for the Elder with a rosary, a painting now lost but known thanks to the burin engraving by Teodoro Viero. The girl's face, on the other hand, derives from a study for the head of the Virgin in the Visitation of San Filippo Neri, which we can now observe thanks to the unique etching specimen preserved at the Albertina in Vienna.
